Hi.

I kinda agree with what you're saying. Although, isn't it good enough that for the first time in our history that these politicians are able to generate a correspondence with their supporters?

It is sad that some of these accounts are not personally attended to. However, we are now linked to the movement and we are able to participate in our own way. Fine, we do not receive the attention that we expected to get but at least we know what's happening. We are aware of these things and it's up to us on how to handle it. With regard to the Mar Roxas account, it is disappointing.

In the Philippines, we already know how some politicians work. Usually, they are the masterminds behind every project we see with our own eyes but it is the staff who branch out and actually make things happen for them. This is how organizations work. Like a human body, they assign people who become the brain, the eyes, the ears, the lips, the arms and the legs.

So yeah, these are just my opinions. I don't even know if it makes sense. It doesn't matter if you agree or not, I have learned to accept and deal with the fact that everyone lives up to their own beliefs and judgement. :)

Agree! And like what Gilbert Chan said in his tweets, how much effort does it take for them to reply or at the very least post a quick note re: their activities?

The senator should find time to do it himself, or it would be useless. Finding time to "listen" to his supposed to be constituents should be one of his priorities, or even his no. 1 priority.

As the say, " Vox populi, vox Dei."

Have a pleasant week!

You may also look for Roilo Golez. I had the same question and he did reply though he said that he's more active in Facebook. The point I want to get through here is that opening a channel means to listen. If they are not listening, can we just say that it's just for the heck of it? I don't know.

I like Mar Roxas. And that he's using Twitter. But God forbid if he's faking it. He'd lose votes from savvy tweeters. I'd like to personally monitor his tweets - haven't followed him yet. Interesting to watch.

He's supposed to be a new breed - although he's cut from a very old tapestry. I just hope he remains authentic and not use some enthusiastic supporter to tweet for him. Or another blogger. Hay naku. Malalaman ko rin yan.

"At the very least, be transparent, vocal, & engaging with your constituents."

Maybe, this is one thing their PR people didn't tell them. You need to really spend time listening to be able to get it. Give before you take.

I agree! People can tell. Especially those who have been using twitter for awhile. There are some who just don't get it. We do things the digital way but should not behave like digital creations. That's why it's called social media. Be social, be human.

i think its kinda cool when someone like Sen Mar replies on you on (any) social media channel but then again we are not sure yet because it may be his real account but who knows, it could be his secretary who is replying pala on his twitter. Pero tingin ko talaga cool ang mga ganyan e. Yun nga lang beware of great imitations ika nga nila

Local politicians need to "get with the program" asap or they're going to loose the Gen-Y votes. At the very least, be transparent, vocal, & engaging with your constituents.
