We all know how Twitter offers a lot of services that make our lives easier. From scoping out a place to mapping out expenses, I’d say Twitter is definitely very useful for the average individual. Personally, I think Twitter is the new cellphone.
But what if you can’t go online from your computer or can’t find a wireless network in the vicinity? I guess Twitter has through of that dilemma to, that’s why they created a solution to this problem – they made Twitter more mobile.
Nowadays, mobile phones come built-in with a web browser. Chances are you probably use it to check email while you’re on the road. The same principle applies to Tweeting on the go. There are several websites that let you access and manage your Twitter account, all without having to download or install any applications on your phone.
To site a few examples, we have Twitstat Mobile, Tweete, and Twitter Mobile. All three are mobile Twitter applications that are light enough to load at a reasonable speed on your phone’s web browser. Among these examples, Twitter Mobile is what most people use because it is Twitter’s official mobile interface. Twitstat and Tweete both have their own unique features and are both considered convenient means to tweet on the go.
Then again, if you hands are tied and cannot punch in Tweets on your mobile browser, or if you live in a state that deems it illegal to text while driving, there are other websites that offer to translate call-in Tweets into text. A good example would be Jott and the SpinVox/Ping.fm partnership. You simply dial their hotline, state what specific social network you want to post in, state your message, and that’s it. Your status update appears in your site within minutes.
Thanks to such services like what I’ve mentioned above, everybody can pretty much Tweet anywhere and everywhere. Makes life easier for people who are always on the road.
How about you? What mobile Twitter application do you use when you’re outside and don’t have a laptop with you?
