Take A Look At My Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs

by Rob Angeles on May 27, 2009

This is a post that I should have done weeks ago. And no, I’m not slacking off. I was occupied with a lot of things that made me really busy from sleeping, eating and watching TV. Anyway, to my international readers, especially those in the US let me have this opportunity to promote new and emerging blogs from my tribe, the Philippines.

The Philippine blogosphere earned its reputation from having many bloggers, which in our terms are creators. And the number of people joining conversations from posting comments is also impressive. I will not go into details on why but that’s one thing we are proud of. We love conversations.

An Invitation

A few weeks ago, I received an email invite from Janet Toral of Digital Filipino to participate in a writing project, which will showcase each blogger’s choice for the top 10 emerging blogs from the Philippines. The real reason why I didn’t create a post immediately was that I need to read among the 58 blogs I’m subscribed at using Google reader.

My Choices

These are sorted in random order. I do not want to mark one blog as number 1 and the other as number 10. In my opinion, a number is just a number. But that’s just me. These blogs ranges from giving information about food, travel, current local events, entertainment, showbiz, social media and general information.

Barrio Siete – A group of bloggers who writes interesting topics about the Barrio (native village) experience with the mission to keep social climbing alive.

Dare To Speak – The author, Silver writes stuff from general information to current events. Visit her and dare to speak!

Dear Bloggery – Serving you fresh posts from current events, local news and international events.

Patay Gutom – Don’t take the local slur seriously. These guys will rock your stomach with their food blog. Every time I visit their site, it makes me drool and miss the food back home.

Hay! Men! – Want to know what it takes to be a real man? These guys know. I love this blog! Digs?

Writing To Exhale – Jan’s writing skill is awesome and we almost have the same theme about the social web. Like the guy’s insights and ideas.

New Media Philippines – Carlo Ople is the author of New Media Philippines. His blog aims to chronicle the best online marketing campaigns done locally.

The Struggling Blogger – The struggles of the struggling blogger. See how the author expresses his honest thought about his struggles in different angles of life.

Indolent Indio – Yes, the Filipino can! But we’d rather not. Stop by their site and smell the sampaguita.

Update: 05/30/2009

My entry for Indolent Indio was not accepted so, I emailed Janet awhile ago if it’s possible to just put my blog. Yes, I know that I’m being a thick face guy but I need to do some self promotion once in awhile =). Hope you guys understand. To Indolent Indio, I’m really sorry guys.

Social Media Philippines

Let’s Go Sago – Why I love my country? The places, food, people and culture is majestic. And these guys talk about it in their blog.

Finally, my top 10! I would like to send my apologies to Janet for being late. I wish these guys all the best and success in their life as a blogger. Go and blog ’til you drop!

Hello Rob. Thank you for participating. Kindly note that Indolent Indio started before May 2008. Kindly buzz me when you update your list.

Furthermore, the writing project is not limited to the Philippines. Any blogger in the world can join. Any blog in the world can be mentioned. Thank you.

Hello Janet! Hmmmm, ok I think I need to do another round for the last slot on my list. I will update you as soon as I can and thank you much for dropping by.

  • jangeronimo

Rob, if you're finding it hard to find a suitable replacement, you can very well nominate yourself. That's allowed. Nothing in the rules against that. Just did not use that option because I have many nominees.

In fact, I'm beginning to regret that I had not completed my list in one go. Now, I'm feeling the pressure from some well-meaning friends. :)

  • http://socialmediaphilippines.com Rob Angeles

I did! LOL! Though not really my style to do such gesture. But, I did email Janet to just consider my blog for that spot. I feel so naked after doing that. It seems that my mentors really did inject that rule in my head.

  • jangeronimo

No one is keeping score, Rob. But be prepared to be teased by your friends. That's a perfect window of opportunity for them to sneak in verbal jabs. “,)
