If you’re looking for a way to spread the word about your blog/company/product, there are lots of options to choose from. But one simple solution is to connect to other bloggers who can talk about you to their respective audiences.
Now, how can you do that?
If you think it’s as easy as emailing the blog owner to link you up, then you’re mistaken. Although there will be blog owners who don’t mind this approach, not everybody would approve of such behavior.
The right question should be: “How can I connect with other bloggers the right way?”
First things first – research. You need to dig around for people who actually talk about you things related to you niche. You can’t simply pitch to a random blogger just because he has high traffic. You have to consider the likelihood of his followers actually taking an interest on the piece that blogger is going to write about you or your services.
Don’t just go eenie-meenie-miny-mo when it comes to choosing bloggers to reach out to. Be specific. Visit blog directories, find bloggers who talk about your niche or related subjects, and choose from there. There are also other social media tools that you can use for the purpose of searching for potential bloggers to connect with.
Next, make yourself visible and available. You can’t expect thought leaders to automatically endorse you to their readers when you appeared from out of nowhere. You have make them feel your presence prior to asking for their help. It’s only right for you to sort of “introduce” yourself, don’t you agree?
Make yourself available by laying everything out in a way that if your target blogger agrees to write a piece on you or add your link to his blog, all the information is readily available for him to use.
Lastly, don’t be pushy. In as much as you want to convince other bloggers to trade links with you and stuff, continuously bugging them about it won’t help you get your way. Give them time to think your request through. If they agree, they’ll let you know as soon as they have decided. Like what they say, patience is a virtue. And also, good things come to those who wait.
I pass the ball to you know, how do you reach out to other bloggers?
