Is Social Media Philippines Doing Things Right

by Rob Angeles on July 5, 2009

Maybe you’re like me and any other blogger who’s happy but wondering why people keep coming back to our blogs. Don’t get me wrong, I like the fact that you’re back to visit or check up on what I have to offer on the site. But sometimes I still think of what I’m doing right.

As many of social media experts say in their sites, people visit (and come back to) websites for one or all of three reasons:

  • the information
  • the simplicity of the site
  • the connection.

I’d like to believe that I engage my followers in all three things. I share what I know, I keep my site pleasant but not over-beautified, and I try to make my readers know that I knew they dropped by. If I’m going to stand by what my mentors said are the basic reasons people keep coming back to my site, then I guess I have my bases covered.

But then again, I think people like coming back to the site because they know I like meeting new people on the Internet and I genuinely want to help people out with the things I know.

There are other reasons I could think of that could make people visit and come back to your blog: You might be offering them something entertaining or you could be someone people can easily relate to. Whatever the reason is, it’s working. It’s making readers re-visit your site for more of what you offer.

Now I was just throwing off ideas as to why people keeping coming back to you blog, I’d like to know what YOU think makes them re-visit, though.

  • Initially, I visited you because of your great looking blog. It truly is. I've made a list of things I like and wish I had in my blog. The reason is selfish - I want ideas how to put together a great looking blog. Because it's still true - content is not enough attraction to pull in readers. That was my initial motivation. Of course, I made notes about that and took away ideas that might work with my blog.

Repeated visits and I hardly notice the looks. It's the meat I have been going for - ideas. In short, it's the valuable and useful posts. And I must say, you've been churning them out like clockwork and surprisingly the quality never dips. Amazing.

But then again, that's not good enough. I can find useful ideas elsewhere. I know where to look - not exactly born yesterday, you know? So the bottom line for me? You've made a connection with me as a reader and fellow writer. That's wonderful. And it's something I look forward to. And this makes me keep coming back.
  • Jan, we almost have the same Genesis. I'm a lurker of pro bloggers and been observing what they do with their blogs. I absolutely agree that as time goes by, we learn to hunt for "meat" and once we learn the essence of it, we mix it all together. Viola! Our living rooms.

Thank you for trusting me to be one of your connections. I appreciate it and I too am looking forward to expand this connection. Truly, you write to exhale, Jan.
  • im coming back from your blog coz you are one uber blogger dude and you are sharing beautiful and useful stuffs on my blogging.

that is why i included you on my list of nominees. hope you will enjoy the thrill, action and fiction. *wink*
  • Hi Elmot! Thank you for pointing that out. We bloggers are sometimes curious about these things. Though there are some who will say that they are not, once in awhile, I think it is good to meditate on what things are we doing right or maybe wrong.
