I tweet a lot. I won’t deny that fact. I enjoy the interaction I get with other users from the posts we make or the replies we post on each other’s tweets. But I’d have to admit that it took me a while to get used to all the madness that is Twitter.
A lot of the people I know who are fairly new to Twitter find themselves lost in one way or another. Let’s be honest, most of what we do in Twitter don’t make sense to newbies, and learning the ropes of this popular microblogging site isn’t always as easy as we’d hope to be.
The question now, is, how do you make tweeting fun for you?
For starters, find people you know in Twitter. When you register, an option to find email contacts who are listed in the social media site is presented to you. You can use that to find friends and family members who use Twitter. From there, you can start following people on your email contact list and keep yourself updated with their Twitter posts.
Another good idea is to find people who live near the general area. By specifying the advanced search filter to show only results posted by people in your town or city. In doing so, you have the chance to connect to people who can relate to the things that only people from your general area know.
Searching for like-minded individuals would make things fun for a Twitter newbie, too. Not only will you feel comfortable jumping in to conversations or tweet threads, but you’ll also have the opportunity to be able to learn something related to your interest that you didn’t know before.
Lastly, I think that finding a tweet client that lets you post Twitter updates easier makes tweeting more fun. Applications like Tweetdeck or Firefox add-ons like Twitterfox are a great way to keep you updated with tweets without having to refresh the Twitter page every so often.
Well, I think that’s about it. These are some tips that I think would be very helpful in making a newbie’s tweeting experience more fun. If you’ve got other tips to share, don’t hesitate to add them up at the comments section so we can discuss it further for the benefit of our new tweeters.
