You and I both know that social media sites are fun places to be in. There are a lot of things for you to do in the sea of social media sites available.
If you’re one who’s fond of learning new things, social bookmarking sites are a great place to discover stuff from other blogs or websites. If you’re one who’s fond of writing journal entries, you’ve got blogs and micro blogging sites to enjoy.
If you’re into finding new friends and playing games, social networking sites are probably your usual hangout.
But when can you say that you’re socializing on the web too much?
For some people, engaging in such sites have become an addiction. This proves more common in social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace than any other social media platforms.
Some people spend more time online than they do offline. This puts their real life relationships on hold because they would rather type on the computer than do something fun outside the house. It’s not a good thing because this has the potential to jeopardize whatever connection you have with your real friends.
Other people who are unable to control their social media habits find themselves unable to work. This significantly affects one’s productivity in the work place. It is for this reason that you can’t blame employers for banning social media sites from the list of browse-able sites. If you continue with this habit, you risk getting fired from your job. And we all know how difficult it is to be jobless these days, right?
Personally, I think that trading real life friends and your job just to satiate your “social media craving” just isn’t worth it. In my opinion, Learning to prioritize is the best way to avoid subjecting yourself to such risks, usage moderation and time management comes a close second and third.
What do you think?
