Twitter is a fun social media site to be in. You get a lot of interesting links and see a lot of unique updates from people, both celebrities and normal people like you and me.
However, once you start adding a lot of people into your Twitter follow list, the updates become difficult to keep up with and you get lost in the sea of tweets. You’ll find that a lot of people are with you on this, especially those who aren’t only starting to discover the joy of tweeting.
This problem can easily be remedied by filtering your tweets. Therein lies the question of how to do so. Let me help you by sharing these tweet-filtering tips:
- Group your tweets. By organizing your follow list into groups, you break the tweet stream down and significantly slow down the influx of Twitter updates. Tools like TweetDeck support grouping functions and make it easier to view tweets per group.
- Filter with keywords. Tools like Filttr can help you compile keywords that you can use to blacklist of whitelist tweets that you want to filter out or allow to appear in your Twitter feed. Doing so saves you the hassle of browsing through unnecessary updates.
- Use favorites. Most people sift through page after page of public timeline to scout for interesting links that have been favorited by a lot of Twitter users. By filtering using tools like Favrd, you get to keep track of favorited tweets without the hassle of going through tons of Twitter updates. You have to remember though that you may come across a lot of links that are not so safe for viewing in the workplace, so be careful.
Hopefully, these tips would be as helpful to you as it was for me. If you’ve got other suggestions to make keeping up with Twitter updates easier, please don’t hesitate to add them over at the comments section.
