Not everybody understands why social media is such an important thing nowadays. And no matter how detailed you go into explaining the benefits, they still won’t understand. Some because you’re getting into TOO MUCH details, while some because they can’t see through all the explanation.
To make things simpler for you and the person you’re explaining the benefits of social media to; let’s enumerate the great things about social media:
Blogs
- Blogs offer a longer lasting archive of thoughts, ideas, and statuses arranged in a chronological fashion.
- Blogs open up channels for communicating with others, be it to simply talk to someone else or just share an idea to the reader.
- Blogs give you a voice to the world. It gives you your own space to voice out what’s on your mind.
Podcasts
- Be it in audio or video form, podcasts promote learning with the use of other media
- Because podcasts engage followers to tune in, the process of sharing itself builds intimacy between podcaster and listener/viewer.
Social Networks
- These sites give you the opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones, too.
- It gives you an opportunity to find like-minded people or an online community to share ideas with.
- Social networking sites offer businesses an inside look at the minds of online consumers.
- It provides businesses with lead-generating information which they can use for marketing and sales.
- Social networks are also great for scoping out information about competitors and your prospective employees.
Social media sharing sites
- Social software like Flickr, YouTube, and Last.fm encourage people-initiated information sharing.
- Social bookmarking sites promote group learning from shared bookmarked information, as opposed to keeping it to one’s self in the privacy of one’s personal computer.
Also, you might want to point out that having online versions of your materials and media lets you reach out to more people than you could imagine. It also helps Google point people towards your online materials.
