I have been talking about how you can use Twitter for your marketing your brand and finding contacts and all that for some time now. I’ve even posted a list of things that you can in Twitter aside from tweeting. But that’s still not all of it.
In as much as you want to make your business prosper with the help of Twitter, you can also pay things forward by giving some love to another person. Who knows, you may even end up finding more people to reach out to when you do so.
But anyway, we were talking about doing some good in Twitter. Here are some ways you can do so:
Support a cause. You’ll be glad to know that some mainstream causes and charities have gone digital and have their own Twitter account. They use Twitter to spread the news of what their about and if they have campaigns or events that they want people to go to. Follow your chosen charity’s Twitter account and keep yourself updated on what they’re doing.
Give to charity. You’ll find that there are a lot of charities and groups that use Twitter to get the word out on fund raising events or if they’re accepting donations. Don’t hesitate to help if you’re all for the cause or would like to assist some charity. Something as simple as re-tweeting such news can be a big help.
Sign a petition. Through something as simple as a re-tweet, you can actually add your name to a petition. And there are Twitter platforms out there that allow you to put your name on a specific petition through your Twitter account.
Help somebody get employed. We’ve previously mentioned something about being able to find a job on Twitter. This time, you’ll help other people find a job by participating in a sort of job networking program. A good example is JobAngels where people who need jobs tweet with a #JobAngels hastag at the end, and those who have the heart to want to help try to help find job opportunities for said people.
Organize a Tweet-Up. There’s no better way to do good than to do it hands on. Instead of sending money to fund raisers over the Internet, why not organize a meet-up between you and your Twitter buddies to get the ball rolling in real life.
Remember that it doesn’t hurt to give some sugar back to other people. They’ll appreciate it, you’ll feel better after you do it. That’s good karma right there. You know what they say, you give a little love and it all comes back to you.
If you have other suggestions on how you can further spread the love, please do share. I sure would appreciate hearing from you.
